On April 2nd, during the Nintendo Switch 2 direct presentation, Nintendo announced that their handheld console Switch 2 will be released on June 5, 2025. This model was revealed by Junichiro Okawa at the Nintendo shareholders' meeting in July 2020. On January 16, 2025, Nintendo officially announced the next generation Switch 2 game console.
